Flag & Plaque Commemoration Ceremony
We had a Flag and Plaque commemoration ceremony at the new facility at 1216 W. Cortez which is called the Central Business District Building or CBD for short. The CBD building is built next to where the old Division Street building was located. It is a state of the art facility and now we have a plaque commemorated to veterans of PGL directly in front of the flag display. We had four Local 18007 members raise the flags at the building. They are also veterans. The members who raised the flags are Distribution Crew Leader Jesus Vera (Army), Utility Workers Jorge Macias (Army), Michael Nieves (United States Marine Corp) and Jesus Lebron (Army). Our bugler is Art Carlson. Art has been our bugler for every ceremony we have had at our shops.
The idea of the plaque to commemorate PGL employees who had served their country past and present came out of our Local 18007 Veteran Committee. Thanks to the union and the company working together to make this happen. We will have plaques at all PGL locations. We are proud to support our veterans. As a Local we support veteran causes all year. Not only with the plaques in front of the facilities of PGL but with the food and clothes drive we have every year for the Midwest Veterans Closet. The charity helps veterans and families of active service members. Remember to give food and new or lightly used clothing in our boxes at each of the shop locations. It is 100% given away to people in need.
Fraternally,
Don Iocco
