Dear Local 18007 Members,
As we mark another month in our shared journey, I want to take a moment to reflect on the unbreakable unity, strength, and perseverance that define us as a union. In these challenging times, it’s our collective resolve that keeps us moving forward, standing tall as the most highly trained and diverse union in Chicago. We are the subject matter experts in our field, ready and willing to tackle the toughest jobs with the skill and dedication that only we can bring.
Together, we’ve faced setbacks that have tested our morale, but I know we have the power to reclaim it, starting right now. Let’s motivate each other, lift one another up, and remember that our strength lies in our solidarity. By supporting our brothers and sisters on the job and off, we can rebuild that unbreakable spirit that has always set us apart.
I am proud to lead this fight as your Business Manager, and I want to share some key updates on our ongoing efforts.
We’ve been at the forefront of pushing back against natural gas bans, battling in both the regulatory arena and through strategic media engagements to protect our industry and our livelihoods. These bans threaten the very foundation of our work, but we’re not backing down. My long-standing relationships with key stakeholders from local Aldermen to Illinois House Speaker Chris Welch have been instrumental in amplifying our voice and building alliances that serve our members. Additionally, communication amongst our membership is key to bringing us all together! Our new website which took hours of prep and vetting would not of been possible if President Passarelli did not lead the charge. I want to thank him personally for his dedication to this Union.
Additionally, my role on the national executive board allows us to gain strength from across the nation, where similar battles are unfolding. By collaborating with Unions nationwide, we’re gaining insights, resources, and momentum to counter these challenges effectively.
None of this would be possible without your unwavering support for me and the entire Executive Board. Thank you for standing with us as we advocate tirelessly for better benefits, fair wages, improved working conditions, equitable promotions, enhanced safety measures, and the morale boost we all deserve.
Your trust fuels our determination, and together, we’re making real progress.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our next membership meeting—let’s come together, share ideas, and energize one another for the road ahead.
In closing, let me be clear: With the battles we face, from policy threats to everyday workplace struggles—there is no one better equipped to lead Local 18007 than myself, Nick Passarelli and the entire Executive board. Our experience, relationships, and unyielding commitment make us the strongest advocate for our future.
We’ve got this—united, we win.
Fraternally yours,
Sean Gaurige
